# Candidate Categories

To create a new Candidate category, please navigate to **Civi Candidate**-> **Categories-> Add New** in your left sidebar. Now you can start adding specific information about the Candidate Categories Item in the fields data section below.

**Name:** Enter the name of the candidate categories.

**Slug:** The “slug” is the URL-friendly version of the name. It is usually all lowercase and contains only letters, numbers, and hyphens.

**Parent Candidate Category:** select parent amenities if needed. Usually, you don’t need to do it.

**Description**: Enter a description for categories if available

After completing all the necessary fields, click on the "**Add New Candidate Category**" button.
