# Categories

### Create new Category

To create a new Category, please navigate to **Place > Categories** in the left sidebar. Now you can start adding specific information about the Category Item in the fields data section below:

**Name:** Enter the name of the category.

**Slug:** The “slug” is the URL-friendly version of the name. It is usually all lowercase and contains only letters, numbers, and hyphens.

**Parent Category:** Select parent amenity if needed. Usually, you don’t need to do it.

**Icon Map Marker:** Upload an icon for the category. All places in this category will be showing on the maps with this icon.

After completing all the necessary fields, click on the "**Add Category**" button.
