Tour Taxonomies

The Togo theme uses multiple WordPress taxonomies to organize and filter tour content.

All of the following items work in the same way and are managed directly from the WordPress dashboard:

  • Pricing Categories

  • Destinations

  • Activities

  • Types

  • Durations

  • Time of day

  • Languages

  • Services

These taxonomies help you:

  • Categorize tours

  • Build filters on listing pages

  • Display structured information on tour cards and detail pages

Creating & Managing Taxonomies

Steps (applies to all taxonomies above):

  1. Go to Dashboard → Trips

  2. Select the taxonomy you want to manage (e.g. Destinations, Activities, Types, etc.)

  3. Click Add New

  4. Enter:

    • Name

    • Slug (optional)

    • Parent item (optional, for hierarchy)

  5. Save

You can repeat the same steps for all tour-related taxonomies.

Assigning Taxonomies to a Tour

  2. Edit a tour

  3. In the right sidebar, assign:

    • Pricing Categories

    • Destinations

    • Activities

    • Types

    • Durations

    • Time of day

    • Languages

    • Services

  4. Update the tour

Displaying Taxonomies on Pages

  • Tour listing pages: Automatically displayed and filterable based on assigned taxonomies

  • Homepage & custom pages: Use Elementor widgets such as:

    • Trip Grid

    • Trip Carousel

  • Each Trip Card allows you to show or hide specific information and taxonomy labels (such as category, duration, tour type, etc.). These settings can be configured at:

Customize → Trip → Trip Card

From there, you can easily toggle individual labels on or off to control what information appears on each tour card.

  • On the tour detail page, you can customize which information is shown or hidden, such as duration, tour type, travelers, language, etc., along with their corresponding icons and labels.

This can be configured directly within the Elementor widget Trip – Overview. Inside this widget, each item can be individually enabled or disabled, allowing full control over the tour overview display.
